How to get tickets for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open

THOUSANDS of golf fans are gearing up for The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, taking place in Ayrshire from July 13-16.

This is one of the biggest golfing events in the European Tour’s Rolex Series.

It takes place the week before The Open and lots of the biggest names in golf use the Scottish Open as their warm-up tournament, making it a great event for celebrity spotting.

Who’s Playing?

Rory McIlroy will be competing in the Scottish Open

With a minimum prize fund of US$ 7million, a world-class field, including World Number Two Rory McIlroy, The Open Champion Henrik Stenson, former Masters Tournament winner Adam Scott and charismatic American Rickie Fowler, who lifted the trophy in 2015, will gather on the North Ayrshire coast in the week before The 146th Open Championship.

How do I get tickets?

Adult tickets start at just £30, with free entry for under-16s ( although they must be accompanied by an adult) and concession tickets cost £25.

Every ticket purchased also includes free entry to the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, which takes place at the same venue on July 27-30.

This is the first time both events have been held at the same venue.

You can buy a season ticket which gives access from Wednesday to Sunday. An Adult season ticket is £75 and £60 for concessions.

Tickets for the Pro-Am are £15.

Celebrity golfers

On Tuesday July 11, before the tournament gets under way, the Hero Challenge makes it’s first appearance in Scotland.

This time The Open Champion Henrik Stenson will join defending Hero Challenge Champion Alex Levy for the exciting one-hole shoot-out.

TV hosts Kirsty Gallacher and Vernon Kay will present the action live on Sky Sports from a specially constructed hole on the 18 at Dundonald Links from 7.30pm – 8.30 pm, while celebrities including former Scotland rugby player and Strictly Come Dancing star Thom Evans, Westlife alum Brian McFadden, actor James Nesbitt and the BBC’s Naga Munchetty will entertain the crowd with their own knock-out contest.

On Wednesday July 12, a host of sport and entertainment stars will partner with world-class golfers in the Pro-Am. It wil include a host of well known faces from the world’s of sport and entertainment, including actors Dougray Scott and James Nesbitt, rugby players Rory Lawson and Gavin Hastings, rower Matthew Pinsent and footballer Michael Stewart.

For families and children

A day at the Scottish Open is a great way to keep the whole family entertained during the summer holidays and there will be a kids zone as part of the Golf Show by American Golf in association with The European Tour and Sky Sports.

Activities for children include: a children’s theatre; a play bus; inflatable obstacle course; bungee run; nature trail; carousel; face painting.

The festival atmosphere will continue into the evening with live music after the golf from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers on Friday and Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire performing on Saturday.

Visitors can enjoy a host of food and drink from local suppliers, plus there will be live cooking demos using local produce.

How to get there

A free bus service, in conjunction with Stagecoach, will run on every day of the tournament from Irvine Central to Dundonald Links.

Timings will tie in with the regular train service between Glasgow Central and Irvine Central, with buses running every 15 minutes on Thursday to Saturday and every 30 minutes on Sunday.

There is also free public car parking on a first come first served basis at Dundonald Links.
